IVORY TOWERS AND DRESSED STONES

MAP 13. HACKFALL

The red marked footpaths shown denote the newly restored and waymarked circuit of Hackfall. The newly defined footpath running from the new roadside carpark through Mowbray point has made the route significantly easier, though possibly at the expense of my original route from Grewelthorpe, which is now sadly neglected and overgrown. Much work has been done at Hackfall, follies have been restored, new features uncovered and many trees cut back to open up the original 'lines of sight' between the follies. Much work has been done, but much else remains. (Fishers Hall comes to mind). A charming touch at Hackfall is the free route maps which may be borrowed on site. All in all a great walk with the promise of exciting developments yet to come. Follies it seems are being valued at last. Keep up the good work!
