RSA STRESS GUIDE

Sir,

It was with a sense of amused irony that I read in your paper how Royal and Sun Alliance has just launched a guide to help businesses combat work related stress. (Courier Financial 30.09.05). My youngest daughter joined them shortly after they had set up in Halifax, being part of a large intake of fellow employees.

She worked there for almost a year, during which time she saw all her workmates leave one by one due to ... (you've guessed it!) STRESS, caused by overpressurisation, harassment and bullying by office managers!! In the end she too gave them her notice after a week or so of coming home in tears every night! Since then we've noticed that they seem to advertise for new staff with a telling regularity. Perhaps, before advising other employers how to behave they would do better to put their own house in order first!? Stress Guide? If it wasn't so unfunny it might almost be a joke!

I never really expected the Courier would publish this letter.They were however extremely interested in its content, they rang me up and asked if my daughter would be willing to provide details. but she didn't wish to get involved so the matter was closed. The story was no doubt registered at the Courier, and one day may surface again.
