CLEAN YOUR OWN STREET

Not too long ago Calderdale Borough Council won an award for efficiently cleaned streets. Of course it was inevitable that someone was going to take issue with that as most members of the public have little or no understanding of the logistics behind the job. After a letter describing the streets of Elland as being a disgrace, I wrote this letter to put a different point of view. Not long after I received a personal letter from said correspondent accusing me of being unkind, that she was a pensioner, did charity work etc. etc. I did not reply - but would have said if you criticise others in print you should expect criticism back.
