PLAY SAFE! RUBBISH IS NO LAUGHING MATTER

This letter was written in response to an article concerning a regular visitor to a local domestic waste site who was suddenly refused access on 'health and safety' grounds because he was a pedestrian, on grounds of health and safety.(A bit odd when you consider that vehicle drivers visiting the site have to get out of their cars (ie become pedestrians) to dump their waste!) The operators announced that in future people on foot would be required to ring a bell at the gate for an operative to come and take their refuse! The letter below was my send up of our increasingly crazy health and safety/risk assessment culture, which is a direct consequence of the US imported 'sue for compensation' culture.
