Mytholmroyd Youth Action Group was established in 1994 in response to a locally identified need
for a meeting place for the young people of the area
A committee consisting of Hal Clarkson, Tina Beard, Allison Tetley, Caryn Louis and Trisha Jarratt was set up,
called M.Y.A.G. for short, to try and address the problem of youths roaming the streets of Mytholmroyd at night.
The immediate solution was to set up some kind makeshift youth club – but where?
After various ideas and discussions we finally opened up a youth drop-in facility at the Koffee Kabin in the centre of the village.
This was held each Monday onwards from December 1994.
Not long afterwards we were given the opportunity to open up a cyber café in the former Legal Resources premises
but this fell through due to opposition from local residents.
In September 1996, however, thanks to the efforts of Royd Regeneration we secured larger,
(though not ideal) premises in their offices. The Youth Club has met here regularly since January 1997.
