"The Pendulum Clock" This song was based upon an old man it was my pleasure to meet and drink tea with, when I arrived, exhausted, at Gunnerside, Swaledale. He lived in an old cottage, which he informed me had once been a lodging for John Wesley.

the grandfather clock here reproduced was made by clockmaker Mr. R. Dakin of Gunnerside in the mid nineteenth century.
