Based on a crossing of the Lancashire/Yorkshire watersheds between the valleys of the Lancashire Calder and the Yorkshie River Aire, this challengin (but not over gruelling) hike, of about ten hours duration, takes you through time and history. It winds its way through a lonely, bleak and austere landscape, often rain lashed and windswept, managing, despit4e the inroads of prehistoric hunters, drovers, hill farmers, delvers, navvies, civil engineers, evangelists, gamblers and cannabis farmers, flytippers and windfarm developers, to retain its wild, elemental character against all the odds. I fell in love with these uplands as a child, and have lived herabouts most of my adult life. Unfinished business, this long overdue book has been a labour of love!
