Notes - Squashed Hedgehogs.

"Squashed Hedgehogs" was born as a result of a day out in the Dales while I was researching my 'Yorkshire Follies' Guide. We were on our way to the 'Druids Temple' a fine bogus stone circle tucked away in the remote eastern fastnesses of the Yorkshire Dales, near Kirkby Malzeard.

It was early summer, and what struck me immediately was the excessive amount of 'roadkill' on the lanes of the area. My two daughters, Jaimie and Laura, who were in the back of the car, took up the theme, and began 'grotty spotting', laughing and giggling, quite oblivious to the tragic scenario they were seeing.

As evening drew in, the pastures were alive with frolicking bunnies. The idea for the song came into my head on the way home. Its main thrust being originally - 'squashed rabbits in the road.'

The rest is history...............
